Sweet (2022-23) is an animated short about a father’s journey home while bearing precious cargo—a single bar of chocolate—in a long decayed, post apocalyptic world. The work focuses on the impacts the landscape has on its inhabitants, and Father’s reluctance to share his wealth with those around him. The backgrounds and animation are both hand drawn. The focus of Sweet is environmental storytelling, and how the decaying landscape informs Father’s decisions and his dedication to not coming home empty handed.

     Sweet also explores how people prioritize what is most important. How do we choose what and who to spend energy on? Who tops our order of importance? Ourselves? Those closest to us? Who are we in a void versus with other people, and how does our treatment of others define us?
